The Freedom Of Reality
Posted by: | CommentsI love Sundays. Sundays are a great time for me since I know I typically cut out most professional responsibilities and focus on myself and my family. This morning, my wife and son left earlier than I did to church which gave me a few moments to reflect on things going on in my life and Istumbled on a very important realization.
In fact, if people caught on to this idea, their lives would absolutely change for the better. You may be wondering what it was right? Just take a few seconds and reflect on this:
“It is what it is. What are you going to do about it?”
You see, most people fall short of their goals, successes, and dreams because of excuses. Things like, “I have a full time job, how can I start a business?” or “I don’t have the money right now” or “I don’t have the time to get it done.”
However, if you go past the excuse and ask yourself, “Ok, I don’t have the money right now, but what am I going to do about it?”, you’re giving your mind a chance to work it out and give you some options.
Simply stopping your powerful and resourceful mind with a statement like you don’t have enough time just doesn’t empower you. You’ve already closed the case and accepted defeat.
So, with this in mind, how can you change negative statements (excuses) to insightful questions that would lead you to success and the life you want to have?
The Entrepreneurial Spirit Is Worldwide

Last night, my wife Josie and I were watching channel 11, a public access channel here in Chicago. It was a show that really captivated me because it was all about entrepreneurship in third world countries.
They were studying the economy in several countries, specifically Peru. Though much of Peru was rural, they said over 80% of the country’s economic development was attributed to local, unlicensed and unregistered businesses rather than big business.
Can you believe that? Most of the money exchanging hands comes through local businesses like independent cab drivers, street vendors, craft makers, and other family businesses rather than large corporations.
However, as interesting as that was, what was even more amazing was the people’s dedication to their businesses.
Some were craftsmen (and women) that had a passion to do their artwork and they’d find ways to make money through their crafts. Other would open small grocery stores from their homes to give the community their daily neccesities.
Many admitted their lack of schooling and formal education, yet their entrepreneurial spirit allowed them to overcome many challenges in order to make a living for themselves and their families. They used all the resources (though not many) they had available to make their business succeed.
They followed through on their dreams despite all the challenges they faced living in third world countries.
Are You As Willing To Cross Those Obstacles To Achieve Your Own Business Success?
After watching the show, I was highly excited and disappointed. I was highly excited because I recognized the power of a burning desire for success at all costs.
This was the same power that fueled the Peruvian locals to achieve things they wouldn’t have done otherwise. They knew their WHY (the reason they absolutely had to succeed) and recognized that their business was the only thing that would pave the way for their children to enjoy a better life.
However, along with that feeling of excitement, I was also disappointed and saddened because of so many business owners who are ready to throw in the towel because of the “recession.”
After seeing that show, I said “screw the recession“!
If indigenous people from Peru were able to create a successful business having nothing but time and a dream for a better life, so can anyone else!
So, I ask you this very moment, what’s holding you back? What have you allowed to get in your way of creating the life and business of your dreams? Sure there are hurdles, but the odds are stacked on your side.
It’s my opinion that you already have everything it takes to get started with your own business.
Ask yourself this; “Who do you know who knows who you need to know?” Sounds funny but someone you know already has all the contacts your need to start making money in your own business.
Next, “What do you know that other people want to know?” People are always looking for information. If this weren’t so, Google would be absolutely meaningless. Moreover, people are willing to pay handsomely for information that’s important to them. You may already be overlooking some of this valuable knowledge that you have.
The point of this story is for you to let go of whatever is holding you back. There’s resources available, people you know, and knowledge that you already have that others want.
